Our very first issue, for discerning and curious individuals who also smoke weed—or are open-minded enough to hang out with people who do.
Volume One includes a sneak peek inside a secret hotel, a deep dive into the weird (and weirdly beautiful) world of fake food, and the story of a fin-de-siècle heiress who shattered a glass ceiling with dinosaur bones.
It’s got a short (short!) story (of sorts) by Janicza Bravo, a personal essay on not getting high on your own supply from Brett Gelman, an emotional roller-coaster ride through Sedona, and a choose-your-own-adventure guide to a flawless Sunday. This issue is also where we introduced our signature Gossamer "How Tos," with instructionals by Molly Young, Man Bartlett, Julia Bainbridge, Beca Grimm, and others. Oh, and puzzles.
With Volume One, we hoped to capture the best parts of being high: where you go, who you meet, and what you learn. The thoughts you have, the way your perspective shifts. The hazy memories, the sharpened senses, the heightened awareness, the momentary escape. The fun.
